About Fission

Composed as the final piece to Volume One of my cello method, Cellosophy, Fission is a virtuosic piece for beginning cellists.

Fission requires second position, extension 1, and left hand pizzicato while holding a note with another finger.

It also introduces plucking with alternating hands.

It draws inspiration from Franco Donatoni's "Lame" ("Blades") for solo cello, as well as Benjamin Britten's Cello Sonata.

Cellosophy Volume One is available here.
